Protecting your credit card information
Using either your Visa, Mastercard, American Express or Maestro cards is an extremely safe way to purchase products on our site. Please see below for details on the safety features designed into our system.
Is my credit card information safe?
Yes, it's extremely safe and secure. 10STERLING offers an industry-standard payment facility provided by Sage Pay which is enhanced by 3-D Secure for Visa and Mastercard credit cards which provides an additional level of password protection. What this means is that your transaction is handled by a secure encrypted connection - only you and your bank have visibility of your payment details. 10STERLING does NOT see the details of your credit card, except the last 4 digits of the long number on your card. We see neither the full card number, the expiry dates nor the CVV security number and, because the system is encrypted using industry-standard HTTPS (which you can see in the browser bar when going through checkout), neither can anyone else see it. Basically, no one can intercept your card details to make fraudulent transactions.
Do you store my credit card information?
No. We don't even see your full credit card details. During checkout, the data transmission is encrypted using industry standard https (used by banks) and neither we, nor anyone else can see your card details, except the last 4 digits. We do not see your CV2 number (last 3 digits on rear of card). The information is handled securely by Sage Pay.
Are there any guarantees about what happens if someone abuses my credit card information to make fraudulent purchases?
Yes. Your credit card provider is duty bound by law to refund losses to your card if you tell them that it has been abused. The system we use at 10STERLING is an extremely secure way to purchase goods online. For Mastercard and Visa transactions we have activated 3-D Secure which provides an additonal level of password protection for your card, if your bank has enabled it. This means you have to enter a further password after you've provided your card details during checkout. As long as you keep this password secure, your card is likely to be secure.
